All students in Grades 1-5 must successfully complete the following subjects yearly in order to pass from one grade to another.

GRADING SCALE

The G.P.A. would be used to determine who is placed on the honor roll in which of the three categories.  The categories for the honor roll are as follows (this applies to Grades 3-5):

            Highest Honors = 3.75 – 4.00

            High Honors       = 3.50 – 3.74

            Honors               = 3.25 – 3.49

Using these guidelines, without exception, would eliminate the estimation that might occur when trying to determine which student belongs in which category by counting the number of A’s and B’s.

Because we want to be unified in our calculating grades, the following breakdown has been proposed:

GRADE POINT AVERAGE SYSTEM:

The four-point system is to be used to determine the grade-point average.  It is as follows:  A=4; B=3; C=2; D=1 and F=0.  Plus and minuses may be used as follows:  A+=4.0; A=4.0; A-=3.7; B+=3.3, B=3.0 B-=2.7; C+=2.3; C=2; C-=1.7; D+=1.3; D=1.0; D-=0.7; F=0

Incomplete:

At the teacher’s discretion, students may be given a grade “I”.  This grade is based on legitimate excused absences toward the end of the grading period if the student has been unable to make up the missed work.

Two weeks will be allowed for the completion of the work, or the student will receive an average of his/her grades, that were received earlier in the quarter.

Testing:

The school administers achievement tests in the Fall and Spring of the year as part of the testing program of the Northeastern Conference.  Results of these test will be discussed with the parents during parent/teacher conference.  The results are placed in the student’s permanent record.

Exceptional Ability:

As a rule, students with exceptional ability are not allowed to skip grades or take two grades in one year.  Such students will receive enrichment by wider and more challenging study and experience, rather than’ by skipping grades.  Super exceptiona1 students will be referred to the superintendent for testing and up-grading.
